Following discussions of some of the issues and problems that we’ve been facing there was interest in forming a residents association.
After an open meeting that lots of us attended some of us volunteered to form a committee and had our first meeting this week to get organised. The committee members names and roles are listed below.
From the open meeting and the first meeting of the committee we have identified our main priorities as:
- Issues with the factors.
- The lack of street signs in the development.
- The proposed changes to the road layouts.
- Antisocial behaviour.
- Issues with FibreNest.
Based on the results of a survey of Burgh Gate residents that was undertaken in December 2023, we’re now aiming to arrange for some members of the committee to meet with representatives from RMG (the current Factor/Management Company,) Persimmon and East Lothian Council to see if we can improve some of these issues.
We’d like to hear from the community ahead of this to understand what we need to discuss, so we will be sharing a survey and ask that as many people as possible fill this out.
We’d encourage anyone who has Facebook and has not yet joined the residents page to do so, we’ll use that, as well as this group to give updates and ask for opinions from the community.

Bad Smells
There is often a terrible smell in the area which has been identified as coming from the Millerhill Energy Centre where they burn old food waste.
SEPA are monitoring it but it’s important to submit as many complaints as possible which will help SEPA.
